OUR MISSION: To improve individual and community health through comprehensive programs and activities that monitor, prevent, and track disease and injury, promote healthy lifestyles, and reduce environmental risks for people of all ages who visit, live, or work in Findlay.

The History of the Findlay Board of Health goes back to the threat of small pox in 1849 when Findlay was only a borough. The present day health department provides many more services to area residents since its humble beginnings.

The Administration and Staff are governed by the City Board of Health, and the Ohio Department of Health.

The Environmental Health Division provides inspections of food service and retail food facilities, public swimming pools, manufactured home parks, tattoo parlors, public and private schools. This list contains only a few of their services.

The Plumbing Division issues permits and provides inspections for all residential plumbing (except repairs) performed within the city limits, and commercial plumbing inspections within Hancock County.

The Nursing/Immunization Division is staffed with three full-time registered nurses who provide several programs to area residents including immunizations, car seat installment and inspection, Tb testing, blood pressure screenings, in addition to nutrition and exercise activities for school age children.

The Substance Abuse Prevention Division provides smoking cessation classes, drug awareness and education, and is involved in programs targeted to abate tobacco use in children and teens as well as providing other programs with children’s health in mind.

The Vital Statistics Division files and registers births and deaths occurring within the city limits of Findlay. Records of birth and death occurring from 1909 up to and including the present are filed in this office and certified copies are available for purchase while you wait or can be ordered by mail or on-line.
